This page is dedicated to our father, Murlin Willie, who was taken from us and the community he served in an untimely death in June, 1993. Murlin was only 53 when he died and was still embarking on new enterprises for the company his father began in 1940.
A strong belief and dedication to excellence was something our grandfather and father always stressed in our family. Our father always taught us to first seek to understand people by listening to what they are saying--and then deliver an excellent product--give them just what they want and always strive for excellence. This founding belief in excellence is what has kept Willie & Willie Contractors, Inc. alive in the Baton Rouge community for over 67 years.
It was 1940 when Leo Willie started his contracting business, and his son, Murlin, eventually picked up a hammer and worked side by side with his father, learning the business, building the company known as Willie & Willie Contractors, and eventually taking it on as his own. "When my father took over the business, he committed to building a strong and successful company, to keeping the family tradition alive for his children," said Debbie Willie Walker.
Debbie and her husband, Randy, joined her father in the business and moved to Atlanta to start a new company for him. They worked very hard with Murlin as their mentor, training them, guiding them, instilling his knowledge of the business and drive for quality in them. It was his desire to eventually bring them back to Baton Rouge to join him in running Willie & Willie Contractors. However, in June of 1993, while driving from Baton Rouge to Atlanta on business, Murlin lost his life in a tragic accident. Debbie and Randy packed up their family and returned to Baton Rouge in October 1993, determined to continue her father's business and carry on his vision.
